Something struck me as funny today while listening to Bush's first post-election press conference today (actually A LOT of things did, but this in particular)...
Bush was asked this by a New York Times rep:
QUESTION: But to follow, we were speaking about the war. And during the campaign, two very different viewpoints of the war came out. You spoke a lot, as he mentioned, about what you saw as the Democratic approach to the war, which you were greatly concerned about. Are you worried that you won't be able to work with the Democrats? Or do you feel like you have to prevail upon them your viewpoint?
Bush replied with his regular rehearsed answer like
BUSH: Well, I think we're going to have to work with them, just like I think we're going to have to work with the Baker-Hamilton commission.
If the margin is less than 1% the losing candidate gets to request a recount.
My calculations have the margin to be around .98%.
Webb is up by over 11,000 votes. Allen is a VERY sore loser if a recount is requested. Would seem to me this would just be another republican ploy to delay the advancement of our nation.
What's new though!

I am so happy to see that America has risen up and spoke. CNN's Broken Government series was a real disheartening thing to watch and brought up a lot of issues that faced the very existence of our Democracy.
I am proud to say our Democracy is alive and shining bright. What a message we (democrats) have sent. It's kind of like slapping Muhammad Ali in the face and still being around to kick him in the nuts later.
Our Muhammad Ali is a.k.a George Bush and it's going to be hard for him to deny anymore where America stands. America wanted change and accountability, and by god our Shining Democracy has given us a bullhorn in the ear of President Bush that will be hard to ignore.
Way to go!
